But many of the runners got even more heated when they got to their cars after the race.
After they had already taken off running, hundreds of residents were ticketed by the city for parking on the neutral ground along Marconi Drive.
Drivers said they’ve been parking there for years and never had this problem before, but many found a $75 dollar ticket on their windshield.
Though there are signs on Marconi about not parking on the neutral ground, residents said that area is frequently used for parking without drivers getting ticketed. Some even said they’ve seen police even direct cars onto the neutral ground for other events in the neighborhood.
“We’ve been doing this for, at this location, 20 years or plus, and we’ve never had this problem before,” said David Bozant, who got a ticket.
Geoff Rose, who also got a ticket, said, “It’s the city trying to get greedy. This is ridiculous. It’s Thanksgiving, it’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s why people hate doing things in the city of New Orleans now.”
Those tickets are $75, and if they’re not paid within 30 days, the price tag shoots up to $150.

Iranian authorities confiscated the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize given to human rights activist Shirin Ebadi, Norway said Thursday.
“The medal and the diploma have been removed from Dr. Ebadi’s bank box, together with other personal items. Such an act leaves us feeling shock and disbelief,” Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a written statement.
Norway did not explain how it had learned of the alleged confiscation, and there was no immediate reaction from Iran.
Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement that it “has reacted strongly” and summoned the Iranian charge d’affaires on Wednesday afternoon to protest the move.
During the meeting with the Iranian charge d’affaires, State Secretary Gry Larsen also expressed “grave concern” about how Ebadi’s husband has allegedly been treated.
“Earlier this autumn, he [Ebadi's husband] was arrested in Tehran and severely beaten. His pension has been stopped and his bank account has been frozen,” the statement from Norway said.

A search was under way Thursday for a helicopter belonging to a military contractor, NATO officials said.
The helicopter for Supreme Global Service Solutions went missing Tuesday, said Lt. Col. Todd Vician, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
He did not say how many people were aboard or in what region of the country ISAF was looking for the chopper.
However, the governor of Logar province in eastern Afghanistan said the search’s focus has been the Khar Pech district.
Governor Halim Fedia said he did not have any further information. An official with Supreme Global also could not offer additional details.
Authorities did not receive a distress signal from the chopper, Vician said.
“We are using reconnaissance assets to find it. We can’t go into more than that. We don’t provide detail on ongoing operations,” he said.
Supreme Global, based in the Netherlands, provides food supplies for military and multinational forces.
